From your feed to their audience.

  1. Make it theirs

Give the event its own look, web address and information. Your client approves the details before it goes live.

  2. Rehearse the whole journey

Connect the encoder, check picture and sound, and sign in as a viewer. Rehearse with the same equipment you will use on the day.

  3. Carry the event beyond live

Let people catch up afterwards. Agree when the replay will be available, who can watch and how much viewing time to allow.

THE TECH BEHIND THE SHOW

From the production feed to the audience.

Your team supplies the programme. Encore handles the event website and protected viewing, with a Tech area to prepare the broadcast and keep track of problems.

From your encoder to the watch page

  1. Connect your encoder

We share the event's connection address and stream key privately with your production contact. Your encoder sends the feed using encrypted RTMPS where supported, or RTMP if agreed. Your crew looks after cameras, mixing, encoding and the venue internet connection.

  2. Delivery around the world

The feed becomes adaptive HLS video: a format that lets the player adjust picture quality to each viewer's connection. A worldwide distribution network delivers it from locations closer to the audience. The venue still needs a reliable upload connection, and viewers need a suitable internet connection.

  3. Check the viewer's ticket

Before video starts, Encore checks the viewer's verified email, their ticket or invitation, and whether viewing is open. Someone who copies the public event address does not automatically get access to the broadcast.

A viewing pass that expires

Encore then issues a short-lived viewing pass called a JSON Web Token, or JWT. It identifies the permitted stream and carries a digital signature that the video service can check without knowing the secret signing key. Altered or expired passes are rejected. To get a new pass, the viewer must still have access to the event.

One active session per ticket

Alongside the JWT, Encore checks the viewing session when playback starts and as it continues. Moving to another device can replace the first session, limiting simultaneous viewing on a shared ticket. An existing pass may still work briefly until it expires. These checks reduce casual sharing; they cannot stop someone sharing their email access or recording the screen.

Before the show

  • Use the actual encoder and venue connection in rehearsal. Sign in as a ticket holder and watch and listen to the feed.
  • Test when viewing opens, switching devices, reconnecting after a drop and moving from live to replay. Include the phones, tablets and computers your audience will use.
  • Allow for broadcast delay. HLS viewing is not instant like a video call; the encoder, network and viewer's device all affect how far behind the stage the picture arrives.
  • Agree who to contact if something goes wrong. Tech shows site checks and stream updates, but someone still needs to watch the programme and check the viewer experience.

We are still finishing the live connection setup and secure delivery of stream keys. The steps above describe how the service will work; a real broadcast needs a full rehearsal before launch.

See the audience's side.

These made-up events show what your audience could see. The ticket and watch pages are design examples without payment or video playback.

Who does what?

  • Agree who manages the client account and audience data, and who answers ticket-holder questions.

  • Confirm filming rights, replay dates, refunds and the quote before tickets go on sale.
